Its been few weeks to months now we all have started to see snippets on the acquisition of Snapdeal. Yes, the top competitor of similar e-commerce giants Amazon and Flipkart a while ago is for a sale. The revealings are not a lot but still the information which had got surfaced seems to be genuine.

acquisition of Snapdeal

There are snippets on air about Flipkart’s interest towards taking over Snapdeal. Though, none of the management team of these two firms had confirmed the takeover it is said to be for a whooping 900+ million.

Who Wins On Service At Present?

Amazon gets a Thumbs Up with more number of positive reviews and Customer Satisfaction. And its a mixed response if compared between the homegrown e-commerce giants Snapdeal and Flipkart. With all these information on desk, I could still say that Snapdeal had a lot of gaps.

What Went Wrong With Snapdeal:

It is true that Snapdeal’s popularity got faded over time. With the focus on to the middle income market, Snapdeal should have handled things with most care. Yes, their business model is not the same as Flipkart but still they lost the market due to the ignorance on the below items,

– Customer service
– Distribution Channel
– Packaging

Yes, Snapdeal had tried to close the gaps by improving themselves but it was already late. With the competitors like Flipkart and Amazon, they should have realized it earlier.

What If Flipkart Acquires Snapdeal?

With the acquisition of the online apparel retailers Jabong and Myntra, Flipkart has grown big already. It would be an added muscle for the bengaluru based e-commerce giant if it manages to close the deal on this acquisition of Snapdeal. Further, if Flipkart can improvise on its return policies and refunds it will be a tough to break competitor for the rival big daddy Amazon In India.

The Winning Scope:

As mentioned in the beginning, it is still not known whether Flipkart would get this deal closed as they are not the only bidder. Who is going to win the acquisition of Snapdeal here will be based on the approval of Snapdeal’s board members and its major investors like SoftBank. Though unconfirmed, the winning percentage of Flipkart seems to be high due to their experience on the acquisitions.
